We had three main scripts for this Wieden & Kennedy shoot for Uber. The star of the show was U.S female freestyler Indi Cowie who has clocked up a huge following on social media.
I realised that we would have no difficulty getting the freestyle shots with Indi, but the challenge would be in the accuracy of hitting a gong placed in the window of a car which is moving at speed! With some trial and error, minor adjustments and encouragement for Indi, we ended up getting the shots for all scripts.
Director Albert was keen from the beginning to make this ad all about the stunts rather than CGI tricks. And by the way, the USA women’s team did go on to win the World cup and earn that ‘one more star’.
