We Play Strong

Brief: “Celebrate women’s’ football in a way that girls/ladies are strong, brave and skilled, while also showing that they can enjoy the social side of playing football together.”

Hence this was perfect for me. Kibwe (director) and I considered our options for the players. We shot mostly in Portugal with a range of very talented players, including the Sporting Lisbon team.

Obstacles: a language barrier. Would they want to take instructions from a guy they’d never met?

Firstly, I had to draw on my manager/coach experience to get the best out of the Sporting Lisbon team. For other players not used to the game, I had to help them feel at ease and just enjoy playing football.
